Worship

Prayer is a language that each of us speaks and hears in a different way. When we pray together, we try to find meaning within the chorus of diverse voices.  With their engaging sermons and stimulating teachings, our Rabbis show us how the lessons from the past are relevant to our lives today.

At Congregation Beth Israel, we understand that there are a variety of ways to express our Judaism through prayer. Therefore, we offer several different kinds of services each month, giving our congregants many ways to engage in a spiritual life. At our Shabbat and Festival services, we use the Reform Movement’s Mishkan T’filah, which provides both transliteration and translation of every Hebrew prayer (so that non-Hebrew readers can follow along), as well as creative/interpretive prayers hoping to further inspire. On Rosh HaShanah and Yom Kippur, we use Mishkan HaNefesh, the Reform Movements’s High Holidays prayer book.
