Mid-Week Midrasha

Our Wednesday evening Midrasha program is available for students in third though sixth grade. Each of the 24 sessions includes an all-school T’filah (prayer) service geared specially toward pre-B’nei Mitzvah students. While the core focus of Midrasha is on Hebrew engagement, each grade’s approach is different.

  • Third graders dive deep into customs, meaning, and vocabulary related to Shabbat and Passover. Each Midrasha session incorporates Hebrew surrounding those holidays (i.e., Challah, Kiddish, Pesach, Chag Sameach), as well as the introduction of a new “Hebrew letter of the week”.
  • Fourth graders continue to build on learned Hebrew with the use of Hebrew workbooks and fun classroom games.
  • Fifth graders use their Hebrew knowledge to begin learning Prayerbook Hebrew. Using a curriculum called “Make T’filah Meaningful”, students learn the meaning of the prayers we say and sing through art and stories.
  • Sixth graders have the pleasure of learning with Rabbi Levy and Rabbi Folberg in Hebrew-based elective classes.

Each week also includes 45 minutes of level-based Hebrew classes with combined fourth, fifth, and sixth graders where students will practice reading aloud and writing in Hebrew.
