It's time to VOTE REFORM

Some of you may recall that my Yom Kippur sermon focused on Zionism. I described my interpretation of Zionism and my vision for the future of Israel. I talked at length about understanding what it means to truly support Israel, to understand what it means to connect with the land, the people, and our history. At the end of my sermon, I explained how we could also have a say in what happens in Israel and how we can partner together to help create a more pluralistic, accessible, and open country for all, even those of us who do not live there.
Now is our chance to make that a reality. The World Zionist Congress officially opened its polls on March 10. So, what exactly are the WZC and the WZO (World Zionist Organization)? According to the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism (RAC), “The World Zionist Organization (WZO) and the World Zionist Congress (WZC) are central nongovernmental institutions in Israel. While not a part of the Israeli government, ‘The Parliament of the Jewish People’ represents a variety of Israeli political parties, their platforms, and visions for Israeli society.”
Additionally, the WZC controls approximately $5 billion annually to support Jews across the world, especially in Israel. This determines policies that impact everyone living in Israel, as well as deciding how millions of dollars are spent around the country to support these various needs. By voting in this election, you become an active participant in this process. By voting for the Reform slate, you ensure that progressive values receive as much financial and governmental assistance as possible.
