Senior Programs
Empty Nesters
George Burns once said, “You can’t help getting older, but you don’t have to get old.” Members of Empty Nesters are living examples of this quote. Our members are active, fun, and engaged. We like to learn together, share meals together, and enjoy entertainment together.
Empty Nesters offers great daytime “lunch and learn” programs as well as a variety of social events. Our “lunch and learn programs” meet at CBI and are offered four times a year on the third Thursday of the month in September, December, February, and May. The Sisterhood generously provides a lunch for which donations are gratefully accepted. All Jewish seniors are welcome to attend.
Empty Nesters also get together twice a year for community feasts. We start with a social hour sipping wine, catching up with old friends, and making new ones. Then we sit for a scrumptious dinner, followed by lively entertainment. We complement our dinners with several special field trips each year to plays, concerts, museums, and Fairs. In past years we even made a trip to Israel and a cruise out of Galveston. We also occasionally sponsor joint events with seniors groups from other congregations.
You don’t need to be a member of Congregation Beth Israel to join Empty Nesters. We welcome anyone who is interested in meeting people and sharing in our camaraderie. If you fit that description, join now! Annual dues are only $15. What a deal!
