Guided Autobiography: Life Stories in a Community of Storytellers

Are you interested in writing your life stories and sharing them in a supportive community?
No writing experience needed!

Class Logistics:
5 Fridays from 11:30-1:30 pm (8/22, 8/29, 9/5, 9/12, 9/19) at CBI in the 3rd floor library.

Share out during Shabbat service: 9/26
$250 for all 5 sessions (equivalent of $50 a class)*
6-8 participants per class
Virtual series will be scheduled depending on interest

Materials needed: Bring your lunch, small notebook, and something to write with

Class Description:

Guided Autobiography: Facilitated groups to produce a record of their lives while exploring the journey with others in a group.” (Haight & Haight, 2007). Researched and developed by Dr. James Birren, a pioneering Human Development Psychologist, over a 30 year period as a method for helping people document their life stories.
No writing experience necessary
Write your life story focused on Jewish themes (e.g., family, holidays, etc..)
During class: Creative and reflective exercises, flash writing, and supportive story sharing
Outside of class: Writing (1-2 pages) on Jewish-related themes assigned during class
